Philip is the second Jiu-JItsu student to be promoted from all the way from White to Black Belt. He is a senior instructor in Dunedin and also New Zealand’s Head Referee.
An experienced and successful MMA and BJJ competitor, he can usually be found leading his students by example at national and international competitions. Philip regularly travels to Australia to update his skills and knowledge under Professor Mario Yokoyama.
David has been part of myBJJ Dunedin from very early on. Initially, he trained to support the family on the mat but these days he enjoys helping out with coaching, especially the kids’ classes. He gets a lot of satisfaction seeing the students he has helped perfect a technique or do well in a competition.
For David, the positive attitudes and values that Jiu-Jitsu instils in its students are an integral part of the martial art. He also likes how Jiu-Jitsu is more like chess than a battle of strength.
Hamed comes from a multi-cultural background, having travelled to many countries and mingled with people of different beliefs and cultures. He brings a mature and respectful attitude to the Jiu-Jitsu community, with a hint of fun and playfulness on the mats.
He has practised different martial arts over the years; including Jeet Kune Do. He enjoys Jiu-Jitsu now above all for its practical application, discipline, and the kinetic chess that is at the core of the art.
Hamed is always open to answer any questions you have about Jiu-Jitsu to improve your game.
